Hassan de Monaco, Comedian

« Women helped to make me the carer, the artist, and the man I am today »

I’m honoured to do my part for women’s rights. Supporting this cause is the obvious thing to do, though I’d have preferred it wasn’t needed. Every day, injustices are committed against people who make up half of the human race. In 2022, inequalities are still a reality, and it’s more vital than ever to think and act together, to build a more equal future for everyone.

Because respect, values, and recognition cannot be dependent on gender.
Because equal rights for men and women is EVERYONE’s business.
Because women helped to make me the carer, the artist, and the man I am today.
Because my mother and sister are women.
Because our complementarity is vital.
And because, my voice shouldn’t count more than theirs just because I’m a man, I choose to use it to promote and protect women’s rights, and to denounce the idea that human values are measured by a gender-based scale.

I want to lend my voice as a comedian to that fight, because humour doesn’t mean you can’t take some subjects seriously.
