Definition of coercive control
a series of strategies used by a partner or an ex- partner to isolate, control and terrorise their victim and make them progressively feel like a prisoner.
The victim is tracked all the time, loses their financial autonomy and their entourage shrinks.
Step by step, the victim is caught in a trap like in an invisible box.
Over a long period, the consequences are devastating.
The victim, their family and their professional circle can sometimes have difficulty to identify these abuses.
