About the app
App Elles is a personal safety app developed by Nantes-based nonprofit Résonantes. It is designed to help prevent violence against women in two ways:
-
- By providing a simple, single point of access to all help and support resources available in the user’s location.
- By alerting family and friends or the emergency services and helping to deal with crisis situations. (geolocation, recordings, calls to emergency services, etc.).
Help and support
App-Elles contains details of the help and support resources available in 14 countries, now including Monaco. Users are invited to choose an area or region, so they are only shown resources local to them. These resources are presented in two formats:
- A list of helplines and websites, giving victims an overview of the organisations they can turn to for support and allowing them to choose the one best suited to their circumstances.
- An interactive map to guide victims to the nearest support organisation or shelter..
Alert system
After connecting with up to three trusted support persons, a victim can trigger an SOS at any time to alert them all simultaneously. Each support person will be sent the victim’s geolocation position, and they will also be able to hear what’s happening around the victim.

What the Committee is doing
The Committee has already begun integrating App-Elles, by working with the nonprofit Résonantes to create a section dedicated to Monaco containing a range of help resources. The aim is to extend the partnership to open up new possibilities, including:
-
- push notifications to provide users in Monaco with information (advice, notices, visuals, etc.)
- auto-updates for help resources
- access to statistical data
- talks on developing app upgrades and specific online services.
